The support provided includes completing online applications scanning and and uploading documents and and and obtaining copies of ID e e e e e e e g g g g g birth certificates passports and and driving licences Supporting the Chagossian community Wythenshawe is home to a a a a a community of people from the the the Chagos Islands The UK Foreign and and Commonwealth Office provided funding for the the purchase of 47 laptops to to to enable us us to to to deliver a a a a a a a a digital inclusion and employment support initiative specifically for this community This involved providing internet access training and one-to- one support Our Digital Inclusion Officer sourced laptops and and and and internet access checked and and and and tested all all the devices and and and and updated and and and and installed software The initiative helped to connect older Chagossian people who were isolated taught them them new skills and and provided them them with the the the confidence to to access online and and face-to-face digital sessions The project also aimed to provide a a a a a hub for members of the community across Greater Manchester to meet socialise learn new skills access training and and improve their health and and wellbeing 137
