Wythenshawe Real Neighbours Volunteer Update
Wythenshawe Community Housing’s Group Real Neighbours Volunteers have had a busy couple of weeks helping with various events in the Community.
From the Armed Forces Day at the Woodhouse Park Lifestyle Centre in June to cleaning plant beds at Johannesburg Gardens, the Real Neighbours team have been working hard to help support people wherever they can across Wythenshawe.
Volunteers helped to support the Armed Forces and Family Fun day at the Woodhouse Park Lifestyle Centre in June, where after a service at St. Anthony’s RC church they made their way to the centre accompanied by exceptional GMP Band to the Family Fun Day.
One ex-serviceman who attended said, “It was a great way to celebrate and show our respect for those who fight for our country and try and keep the peace in other countries. I am very proud of all who have come along”.
Real Neighbour Volunteers from the Bideford Community Centre also helped with a ‘Big Dig’ at Johannesburg Gardens in Newall Green, to help clear plant beds so that local residents can grow their own fruit and vegetables.
The team have also been working hard collecting ‘Bric a Brac’ to help raise money to take attendees of the ‘Grand Day Out’ on a trip to Llandudno this August.
The ‘Grand Day Out’ is an event for the over 55’s that takes place at Wythenshawe Forum every Wednesday and is supported by the Real Neighbours team.
Well Being Coordinator for the Real Neighbours Nicola Hamilton said, “I want to thank all the volunteers that have helped on all these events. The volunteers make a real difference to the local community and if anyone is interested in becoming a volunteer then please get in touch.”
