We’ve supported local partners to install heart defibrillators around Wythenshawe
We’re excited to share the outcome of our latest project, supporting local partners in installing heart defibrillators around Wythenshawe.
Partnering with Manchester City Council, British Heart Foundation (BHF) and Oliver Cookson Foundation, we facilitated the installation of 2 heart defibrillators around the area.
The aim of this project is to create guidance that can be used across the UK on how to ensure communities have access to defibrillators and CPR training to increase survival rates following a cardiac arrest.
James Hunter, Head of Procurement here at WCHG, shares: “We’re thrilled to play a role in the installation of defibrillators throughout our local area. Ensuring the safety and well-being of our community is paramount to us, and these defibrillators will undoubtedly make a life-saving difference in times of need.
“We're proud to contribute to creating a safer and more prepared environment alongside our contractors as part of their Social Value delivery.”
Our electrical partner, AB Building & Electrical, were able to complete the installations free of charge as part of their Social Value offering. With the coordination of ourselves, one heart defibrillator was fully installed by March, whilst the second is expected to be completed in the coming weeks. Both are available for use by the general public.
Locations include:
- Spar Shop, 204 Hall Lane, Wythenshawe, Manchester, M23 1WA
- Tree of Life Centre, Greenbrow Road, Wythenshawe, Manchester, M23 2UE [in progress]
Additional locations are also in discussion. The defibrillators were kindly donated by BHF and Oliver Cookson Foundation, and they will be managed and maintained by allocated guardians.
