WCHG Volunteering 4 Wythenshawe!
Wythenshawe Community Housing Group (WCHG) has just launched their exciting new V4W (Volunteering for Wythenshawe) project to support staff who want to volunteer on a wide range of activities and projects in Wythenshawe.
This can be anything from getting involved in the Wythenshawe Games, helping local children with their reading in primary schools or supporting the Real Food Team with their many events and activities.
The project was rolled out at WCHG’s recent staff conference and in just over an hour 238 colleagues pledged their time to over 3,079 hours of community activity.
Nigel Wilson, Group Chief Executive of WCHG, said; “We have never just been about providing housing. Our vision has always been about creating a community where people choose to live and work. We have a very strong track record in community investment – from our community centres to our services and projects that help to improve the lives of people who live in our community. This new staff scheme takes this a stage further and gives our staff the chance to be part of the work that is done in the community – and we are delighted that they have shown such enthusiasm.”
Colette Humphrey, WCHG’s Social Impact & Volunteering Officer said: “This was a fantastic response from colleagues and we hope it will have a massive impact in the community. There are lots of projects coming up over the summer months and we are looking forward to getting involved and helping local people deliver their projects.”
