WCHG scoop regional honours at LABC Building Excellence Awards
Wythenshawe Community Housing Group (WCHG) has been crowned the regional winner for Best Large Social Housing Development at the prestigious LABC Building Excellence Awards 2022.
The Willows, previously known as Alfred Morris Court, has been developed into a mix of accommodation, featuring six three-bedroom, shared ownership semi-detached houses, and five three and four-bedroom detached houses available for outright sale through Garden City Homes.
This £4.3m mixed tenure scheme, which received more than £800,000 from Homes England also includes seven one-bed and sixteen two-bed social rent apartments.
The scheme includes a secure cycle store, electric vehicle charging points, off-road parking for two cars and good-sized private rear gardens.
WCHG Executive Director of Development Andrea Lowman said: “We are delighted to win this award. Providing high quality and affordable housing is always our goal and The Willows development does exactly that.
“It’s fantastic to be recognised along with BTP Architects who have done a fantastic job and we look forward to the grand finals in January.”
BTP Architects Associate Elliot Denby added: “It was a great scheme to be involved with to provide much-needed high-quality housing with a unique contemporary design that sits well within its surroundings.
“It delivers much-needed affordable housing in Northern Moor and we’re privileged to work with such an amazing team and have a great working relationship with WCHG.”
The Grand Finals will take place at Park Plaza, Westminster Bridge on January 27.
