Our Youth team receive over £96K funding to support young people in Wythenshawe
Our Youth team have received a huge pot of funding to help support their efforts in combatting anti-social behaviour amongst children and young people in Wythenshawe.
Receiving £96,645 from the Million Hours Fund, we will be able to provide additional open access resources for children and young people to socialise, play sports and engage in group activities such as arts and crafts, gaming and much more.
Samantha Maunder, Neighbourhood Youth Manager, shares: "We are so pleased to have received this funding. It’s going to enable the Youth team to make our current offer bigger and better by doing extra sessions, getting more children and young people of Wythenshawe involved, especially those who otherwise may not get the chance to take part in anything."
The Million Hours Fund is a £22 million jointly funded initiative from the Department for Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) and The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest community funder in the UK. The programme funds organisations to provide positive activities for young people in areas with high levels of antisocial behaviour.
Our Youth team’s vision is to create a place where children and young people living in Wythenshawe experience and benefit from high quality youth and play work, whatever their starting point or background.
This funding will provide an extra 342 hours of youth work, enabling the Youth team to provide more hours to our youth workers and recruit more staff. There are also a further 1,425 hours which will be used for further work and outreach with a focus on anti-social behaviour.
If you’re looking for support from our Youth team, they host a Thursday night open access session, welcoming any young person aged 11-18 to join. This is held at the Woodhouse Park Lifestyle Centre between 6-8pm with our qualified and trusted youth workers. Activities offered include basketball, football, arts and crafts, music workshops and much more.
