Our Biggest and Best Tenants Conference yet
WCHG’s 4th Annual Tenants’ Conference was its biggest and best yet with over 200 tenants attending from the Wythenshawe Community!
The event took place in the heart of Wythenshawe at The Forum on 10th November attendees enjoyed an action packed agenda which focussed on launching a new Involvement Strategy and celebrating the fantastic work going on with the ‘Real Benchill’ Project.
Master of Ceremonies on the day was Councillor Glynn Evans and activities included a “WCHG Question Time” which gave attendees the opportunity to ask questions to representatives from WCHG’s senior management team & Greater Manchester Police and TPAS.
Special guest speaker at the event was Deputy Chief Executive at Manchester City Council Sara Todd, who spoke about the Real Benchill Project and how it links into the larger ‘Our Manchester’ initiative”.
Other highlights included the Community Awards, Garden and Scarecrow competitions, and winners were presented prizes by another very special guest the Lord Mayor of Manchester Councillor Carl Austin-Behan
The Bishop of Manchester The Right Reverend Dr David Walker said, “I’ve been involved in housing associations for almost 30 years now and I know that having tenants involved in every aspect of the organisations life is the way to produce the best services and be the best organisation we can. Tenants have a very large role to play in the organisation and I’m delighted we had such a good turnout at the event”
Group Chief Executive of WCHG Nigel Wilson said, “I would like to thank everyone for taking the time to come along and give us your views. The feedback for our tenants and residents on how we can work together to make Wythenshawe an even better place to live and work is more important than ever, to ensure we continue to keep tenants at the heart of everything we do. We were delighted that many of our partnership organisations across the area, were able to join us at the event, and we will continue to work together to serve the great community of Wythenshawe.”
Eric Smith, Chair of the Tenant Committee said, “I personally would like to thank all the hard work of the Community Angels and involved tenants who led on organising the event and making it such a huge success. We will continue to grow and develop and we are already looking forward to next year”
