Housing Heroes in Wythenshawe!
Wythenshawe Community Housing Group (WCHG) is delighted to announce that they have been shortlisted in two categories of the Housing Heroes Awards!
The Housing Heroes awards aim to ensure those 'unsung heroes' of the housing world are recognised and rewarded for their contribution in making housing such a vibrant and caring sector. The Awards ceremony is one of the biggest in the Housing sector’s calendar and will be held on Monday, 23rd June, as part of the Welcome Dinner to the CIH conference in Manchester. This year’s event will be hosted by one of Britain’s greatest Paralympic athletes, Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson.
The Group, which is made up of Willow Park and Parkway Green Housing Trusts, has been shortlisted in the Inspirational Board Member category through a nomination for local resident and Board Member, Wyn Casey. Wyn is a local tenant who has been a long standing Board Member for Parkway Green and an inspirational community champion for local residents.
WCHG has also been shortlisted in the Tenant Engagement Individual category through the work of Graham Heslin, Involvement Officer for the Group. Graham has been with Willow Park (and now WCHG) since 2005 and has made played a significant role in ensuring that tenants are at the heart of the organisation and the decisions it makes.
Chair of WCHG, Eddy Newman, said; “It is very fitting that we have been shortlisted for these two important categories as it reflects the importance in which we hold tenant participation. Tenant involvement ensures that our services are the best they can possibly be and we would like to say a big thank you to all of those who give up their time and get involved with our various panels, committees and boards.”
Group Chief Executive of WCHG, Nigel Wilson, said: “Once again we are delighted that our work has been recognised in this way. Good luck to our nominees - we look forward to finding out how we do in the finals in June!”
