Garden City Festival
Wythenshawe's 5th annual Garden City Festival will be held from 11am to 4pm on Saturday 14th September in the town centre and Forum. This free community event is a celebration of local horticulture, produce and good food. With three main zones; Food, Gardening and Arts & Crafts, the festival is full of interest for anyone interested in cooking, growing their own, or crafts.
Visitors can watch cookery demonstrations throughout the day, try tasters from various stalls and experience all that is good from local fresh produce. Children can enjoy their own cookery theatre with a chance to roll their sleeves up and produce their own culinary creations.
In the gardening zone there are local horticultural societies and stalls showcasing fruit, veg, beekeeping, floristry, organic gardening and more. Simon Tetlow, Tatton Park's head gardener, is holding a Q& A session and will be on hand with other members of the team for demonstrations and advice throughout the day.
Budding young gardeners will love Mr Bloom's 'Growing up Green' workshops - with Ben Faulks, the presenter of Cbeebies 'Mr Bloom's Nursery'.
The arts & crafts zone at the Forum is full of local craft stalls from needlework to hand-made chocolates and jewellery. Demonstrations and children's craft workshops include woodcraft and recycled pot painting.
Peripheral entertainment will keep every member of the family happy... Jungle Trex exotic animal handling sessions, music, dancing, donkey carriage riding, animals from the community farm and a farming road-show. Imagine FM will also be broadcasting live from the event.
