Staying Close

Staying Close

Staying Close is a service commissioned by the Department for Education that supports care experienced young people aged 18-25. It offers wraparound support, helping care leavers transition from residential living to independent living. We've partnered with Manchester City Council and One Manchester to deliver the service to the residents of Wythenshawe.

Support includes:

  • Teaching independent living skills such as budgeting, shopping, cooking and DIY
  • Helping care leavers find a home
  • Accessing Employment Education Training
  • Integrating with the community
  • Signposting to any relevant services and resources
  • Supporting care leavers to rebuild family relationships that are important to them
  • Managing emotional health and wellbeing

We have a Growing Together group for care leavers as part of the service which teaches them a range of independent skills to aid their transition.

  • Cooking on a budget
  • Managing money
  • Utilities
  • Online safety
  • Substance misuse
  • Cleaning
  • Emotional health
  • First aid
  • Future planning

To be referred to the Staying Close service, you can speak to your social worker or personal advisor, and they can get in touch with us.
