Celebrating our young eco-champions!

Our young people working with our Youth team were recognised for their incredible efforts in protecting local green spaces as part of the Water Ambassadors/Fishing Project this week.

To celebrate their hard work, a special event was held at Woodhouse Park Lifestyle Centre on Tuesday 11th March, where they were awarded certificates for their achievements. The room was filled with pride and applause as friends, family and supporters cheered them on.

During the summer holidays, they were busy rebuilding fishing pegs, clearing pathways at Trafford Eco Park, and developing their fishing skills at Partridge Lakes - all as part of an initiative launched by Groundwork UK, a national charity.

But what really stood out was the group's determination. When their Anglesey fishing trip was cancelled due to bad weather, they volunteered for an extra day of conservation work instead.

The Water Ambassadors/Fishing Project gave them a chance to engage with their natural water supply, promoted outdoor activities and fostered an appreciation for the environment.

Kevon Emile, our Operational Lead, praised their dedication said: “It’s been brilliant to see how engaged and passionate these young people have been. Not only have they learnt new skills, but they’ve also made a real difference to their community.”

The good news doesn’t stop there – their Angelsey trip is back on and will be happening in the coming weeks. After everything they’ve put into this project, they’ve more than earned it and we wish them luck!
