Bishop David Walker steps down from the Board at WCHG after nine years
The Board and Executive Team of Wythenshawe Community Housing Group (WCHG) said goodbye to Bishop David Walker last month, when he stepped down from our Board after nine years of service.
The Bishop of Manchester, The Right Revd Dr David Walker, joined the board in April 2014 and became Chair two years later, a position he held until April 2022. Bishop Walker has been a Housing Association board member since 1988, and he was also a member of the National Housing Federation Board and was Chair of the social housing charity HACT.
Nick Horne, WCHG Chief Executive, said: “We’re immensely grateful for everything Bishop David has achieved over the last nine years. With his passion for social housing, urban regeneration and the wellbeing of our customers, he’s been a strong voice and advocate for the people of Wythenshawe, and most recently he’s played a key role in shaping the organisation’s priorities for the next few years.”
Bishop David said: “It’s been an honour to be on the Board of Wythenshawe Community Housing Group for the last nine years. In that time, I’ve been very fortunate to watch Wythenshawe develop and thrive, and continue to build on its many successes.
“There’s a very real sense of community in Wythenshawe, and the town and its people will always hold a very special place in my heart. I’m certain it has a bright future ahead of it, and I wish everyone in Wythenshawe, and at WCHG, the very best for the future.”
