A Bespoke Future for WCHG Tenant Vicky
The Wythenshawe Talent Pool, which matches local people to local jobs, came up trumps for one of our tenants who was recently selected for the role of Administrative Officer with Bespoke Services in their Wythenshawe office which is based in our very own Business Enterprise Centre in Benchill.
Vicky Lawler is a return to work Mum from Sharston who was trying to find a way back into employment. She explains, “I was keen to find part-time work that fitted in with the school run, but found that I was often getting pipped at the post at interviews due to my lack of recent experience. A careers advisor at the National Career Services put me in touch with the Wythenshawe Talent Pool and I signed up for some courses to help me in my job search.”
Around the same time, Wayne Evans, CEO of Bespoke Services – a family company set up over 25 years ago – was looking for some Admin support in the Wythenshawe Office. Bespoke pride themselves on employing local people – 82% of their staff are tenants in Wythenshawe – and they were only too happy to add to this tally with Vicky’s addition to their workforce. In fact the company are already planning to move into larger offices within the Enterprise Centre as the success of the company continues to look bright.
Nigel Wilson, Group Chief Executive for Wythenshawe Community Housing Group, said; “This is a brilliant result for both Vicky and Bespoke Services. It really does show that the Wythenshawe Talent Pool provides a fantastic service for local job seekers and also local employers such as Bespoke, who are keen to ensure that their employees are local people that know the area. This is a real win-win for all concerned!”
